Transforming humanitarian aid delivery with UNICEF's HOPE (Humanitarian cash Operations and Programme Ecosystem)
Key challenges
Existing aid distribution processes suffered from fragmented data management, making identifying and registering beneficiaries accurately and efficiently difficult
Inefficient payment systems led to errors or delays in fund disbursements, negatively impacting the lives of those in need
The absence of a centralized platform hindered the efficient management and risk-informed implementation of cash transfer programs
Client in spotlight
UNICEF's HOPE project gathers and processes essential data for global cash aid programs in response to humanitarian crises. Enumerators collect data on vulnerable individuals in conflict and emergency zones. The HOPE database deduplicates these individuals and targets aid programs according to their specific needs. The platform efficiently manages beneficiary lists, ensuring secure data transfer and segregation of duties. HOPE enhances the effectiveness of cash aid programming, data security, grievance handling, some of which are sensitive in nature, and reporting and mitigating associated risks.
