The client is a global leader in automation and security, specializing in managing and identifying devices connected to secure networks. Despite their technological prowess in the security domain, their internal reporting system was outdated, making it difficult for business users to access reliable and accurate data. This limited their ability to make informed decisions quickly, particularly in areas such as partner performance, renewals, and discount management across various geographies. The need for a modern, Cloud-based reporting solution became crucial to streamline their processes and drive better insights.

Ideation

The client's vision was to establish a unified reporting framework by leveraging Cloud technology. By consolidating data from multiple systems into a centralized Data Lake, the goal was to provide easy access to consistent, accurate information across departments. This would enable business users to generate timely reports and gain insights for better decision-making and collaboration.

Our approach

We implemented an AWS-based Enterprise Data Warehouse by integrating multiple Data sources, including Salesforce (SFDC), Oracle Fusion, Engineering Data, and various spreadsheets used by different teams. AWS Glue, Python, and Lambda were used for efficient Data ingestion and transformation. We developed intuitive Tableau dashboards to present historical bookings, renewal cohorts, and discount insights in a consistent format. The solution also included modules for Data reconciliation, error handling, and aggregation, with the majority of components hosted on AWS EC2 and S3 for scalability.

Outcomes

The new solution transformed the client’s reporting capabilities by providing an easy-to-navigate system with consistent, reliable data. Business users across departments could now access interactive dashboards that allowed them to visualize and analyze data quickly. By standardizing information delivery and simplifying the data movement process, the solution not only improved internal reporting but also empowered informed decision-making.
