Problem
Prior to this module, when Drupal users created new content on their Drupal site, they had to develop a custom notification informing the site admins about the added content. It would be through an email notification or a custom code.
Another alternative was to utilize the features of Drupal RULES, which is a very huge module and complex to understand.
About Rules (Drupal Module)
The Rules module in Drupal allows site administrators to define conditionally executed actions for specific events (known as reactive or ECA rules). It's a replacement with more features for the trigger module in core and the successor of the Drupal 5 workflow-ng module.
Use Cases (Drupal Rules)
- Build flexible content publishing workflow changes
- Notify users through customized notifications about important changes to site
- Create custom redirections, system messages, breadcrumbs, ...
- Build eCommerce store using Drupal Commerce
Admin Content Notification Module
With the introduction of this new Module, users will receive email notifications whenever a new content of any content type is created on their site.
Using Rules module for notifying site admins only is not a wise business decision; the new module helps users owning small websites or even blogs in the Drupal site.
The following steps will explain how the module works.
Step 1: Enter the email address of the site admin/user to be notified
Step 2: Enter the specific subject of your default email template
Step 3: Draft your email in the space under the section ‘Configurable email body’
Step 4: Save the default template for sending user notifications
Step 5: Manage multiple notifications by clicking ‘Manage Content Notification’
An important thing to note is that this module currently works for Drupal 8 only.
